Background

A lawsuit filed against American Honda Finance Corp., Toyota Motor Credit Corp. and WFS Financial accused the companies of discriminating against black and Hispanic car buyers by charging them higher interest rates on their dealer-arranged loans than were charged to white car buyers. Evidence showed that on average, black customers were charged fees double those charged to white customers.
