Background
In response to the national epidemic of childhood obesity, one non-profit organization in Oakland, California developed a program to encourage elementary school students and their families to eat healthy food at home. The East Bay Asian Youth Center (EBAYC) set up organic produce stands on elementary school grounds so that parents could buy healthy food when picking up their kids from school.

Fighting Childhood Obesity: East Bay Asian Youth Center

Public Good PR was asked by Oakland-based Full Court Press to help raise awareness through the media about the EBAYC produce stand program and the importance of healthy eating. The outreach campaign generated widespread television, radio and print coverage, including an in-depth multimedia story about the program featured on the Oakland Tribune Web site.
