specializing in outreach on behalf of non-profit organizations,
foundations, attorneys, and socially responsible businesses.

Severn Williams
For more than 20 years Severn Williams has been advancing
the goals of nonprofits, foundations, and socially responsible
businesses through creative and effective communications
campaigns.
His work to publicize the environmental consequences of building
the nation’s largest water bottling plant near Mt. Shasta, California played a critical
role in preserving the pristine McCloud watershed. He garnered key media placements
for authors Paul Ehrlich and David Wilcove on national NPR shows including
Fresh Air, Living on Earth, and the Diane Rehm Show. Severn also worked closely
with the Leakey Foundation in promoting its 40th anniversary and its awarding
of the Leakey Prize to renowned primatologist Jane Goodall.
When the National Senior Citizens Law Center was concerned that low-income seniors would lose access to prescription drugs overnight as Medicare Part D took effect, Williams helped generate coverage in the New
York Times and the Washington Post to call attention to the issue. When 1 million cribs were recalled due to a potentially fatal construction flaw, he secured interviews for the lead plaintiff and attorney on the Today Show and Good Morning America.
In 2001-2002, Severn served as a key member of the strategy team for a $2 million public education campaign to prevent youth violence, funded by a grant from The California Wellness Foundation to San Francisco-based i.e. communications. At strategy and communications consulting firm Staton-Hughes, he helped elect Democratic candidates to office, represented labor unions to the media, and developed media strategies for non-profit organizations.
Severn worked with celebrities and media executives to incorporate environmental themes into TV shows and feature films at the Hollywood-based Environmental Media Association. He produced celebrity-featured public service announcements for the U.S. Environmental Hotline, and in 1996-1997 Williams directed the nationwide YES Tour, a multimedia show educating youth across America about protecting the environment.
